Happiness hit like a bullet in the brain.

I got into Pottermore this morning! It made me happy!
And that was an incredibly tenuous link to what I want to talk about today, if I’m honest, I just wanted to tell you all about that. It makes me feel a little bit special because not everyone has got that to say, so yeah! Happy happy times!
But yeah, back to what I wanted to blog about; happiness. Me and a friend were contemplating the meaning of happiness last night and whether it’s actually an achievable thing. And in my opinion, no. Complete, total happiness is not something which I see as being possible, because let’s face it, there’s always going to be something that will get in the way, whether it be storm clouds appearing on a sunny day, or irritating niggles from other people, there will always be something which gets in the way of your happiness.
On the other hand though, while not a strictly possible thing in my opinion, I’d liken happiness to a dream, a shared dream for everyone, because while we might never find it, maybe we’ll find fragments of it along the journey. Because there are definitely happy moments, more for some than others, but it’s those moments that make that pursuit of happiness worth it, at least in my view…
I mean, surely bad times will come, that is unstoppable, but I read a proverb while I was searching for pictures to put on this blog, which said ”Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened”. I think that’s very important, because you have to be thankful for the happy moments, I think, because they’re special, and if you sit around and regret their passing all your life, then you’ll miss the happy moments that come your way afterwards…
I believe that hard working, and hopefulness will draw in more happy moments, until they tip the scale, and your life would be filled with more happiness than sadness, which is perhaps what is meant by the state of ‘being happy’.
But then the unhappy times are just as important, because if happiness is all that you know, then how can you possibly appreciate them as much as if you’ve known the hard times? Happiness and sadness are two sides of the same coin, and without one the other couldn’t possibly exist…
I’d like to conclude with my final thought of happiness. A lot of it is based on your personal attitude; optimism vs. pessimism. If you’re looking forward to a sunny day and a barbeque with friends, don’t let the rain ruin your day. Have a barbeque in the garage. That was a terrible analogy, so here’s a better one; ’You can’t have rainbows without rain.’
Thanks for joining me on that admittedly random blog!
Jack out.
PS. Here’s a picture of a happy albino Gorilla!
